Cygnet evolved from a department of a Landfill infrastructure contracting company. As a result, knowledge of installing and operating gas and leachate abstraction systems was built up over a number of years.

When Cygnet became independent in 2009, this knowledge was drawn upon to effect practical changes in many of the common fabrications adopted for use on active landfill systems.
